9/28 Sengoku - Roger Gracie Accused of faking Injury

Monday, 22 September 2008

Sengoku have put out a report on their web-site basically accusing Roger Gracie of faking injury.

Here are the accusation points:
-They requested an official doctors certificate and CT scan showing the injury.
-They requested Roger Gracie to come to Japan to be examined by WVR's doctor

On both these points Roger Gracie has failed to comply and WVR/Sengoku are considering penalties.

In addition to the above points:
-For a scheduled phone conference Roger Gracie's management did not call in.
-Roger Gracie's doctor told WVR staff in a mail September 20 that there was no break or fracture detected and a CT scan was not done in order to determine the extent of injury.

Wednesday, 17 September 2008

Adcombat.com is reporting that Roger Gracie injured a rib in training and is out of action for at least 8 weeks. They are further saying that he is unlikely to fight again in 2008, meaning that a comback in November event is also out of the question.

5/18 Sengoku - Roger Gracie's opponent announced

Monday, 5 May 2008

Sengoku has announced Roger Gracie's opponent for May 18, and its not a can! Yuki Kondo is a very merited Pancrase fighter (middleweight King of Pancrase), and recently lost the title fight for the Lightweight King of Pancrase. I would question if they are in the same weight class, but Kondo is a very good fighter.

Yuki Kondo 48-21-6 vs. 1-0-0 Roger Gracie

Previously announced:
Josh Barnett 21-5-0 vs. 24-7-0 Jeff Monson
Kevin Randleman 16-12-0 vs. 8-2-2 Ryo Kawamura

Satoru Kitaoka 19-8-9 vs. 7-4-1 Ian Schaffa
Yuki Sasaki 21-13-1 vs. 16-7-0 Jorge Santiago

5/18 Sengoku - Fight Announced

Friday, 18 April 2008

Sengoku added another fight to their May 18 card today. This one has been rumored on a few discussion forums, and I think it will be a good one: Mike Pyle 15-5-1 vs. 15-1-0 Dan Hornbuckle.

It is also rumored that Roger Gracie has been offered both Jeff Monson and Josh Barnett, but both of these were turned down from the Gracie camp.

Will be interesting to see if Sengoku can get a TV deal with Fuji TV. It would definately give them more publicity. They are putting up some good match-ups and it will be interesting to see if they manages to fill the card this time.

Eiji Mitsuoka 12-5-2 vs. 5-0-0 Kwang Hee Lee
Satoru Kitaoka 19-8-9 vs. 7-4-1 Ian Schaffa
Yuki Sasaki 21-13-1 vs. 16-7-0 Jorge Santiago
Yoshihiro “Kiss” Nakao 6-1-0 vs. 9-1-0 Big Jim York
Mike Pyle 15-5-1 vs. 15-1-0 Dan Hornbuckle

Participating:
Roger Gracie 1-0-0
Kevin Randleman 16-12-0

Rumored:
Jeff Monson 24-7-0

5/18 Sengoku 2- Randleman and York added to May event

Thursday, 3 April 2008

Sengoku has updated their web-site with 2 more participants for their May event.

Kevin Randleman was announced at Sengoku 1, but "Big" Jim York will be new to a lot of fight fans.

York has an impressive record in Japan, Australia and Korea with 9-1-0, his 3 last fights were in MARS and all decided in the first round. He is a heavyweight, so the quality of opponents is always a question in Japan. He is on a 9 fight winning streak, so this should be a deserved step up in level of opponent.

Fights:
Satoru Kitaoka 19-8-9 vs. 7-4-1 Ian Schaffa
Eiji Mitsuoka 12-5-2 vs. 5-0-0 Kwang Hee Lee

Participants:
"Big" Jim York 9-1-0
Kevin Randleman 16-12-0
Roger Gracie 1-0-0
Yuki Sasaki 21-13-1
Yoshihiro “Kiss” Nakao 6-1-0

Sengoku has announced 2 fights for their second card. Their first event was a success, now they have to follow it up.

I know a lot of people were expecting Schaffa to fight in DREAM, but now he has appeared on a Sengoku card. It will be interesting to see how he does against Kitaoka.

Eiji Mitsuoka edged out Joachim Hansen in his last fight, now he returns to face the undefeated Korean Kwang Hee Lee.

Fights
Satoru Kitaoka 19-8-9 vs. 7-4-1 Ian Schaffa
Eiji Mitsuoka 12-5-2 vs. 5-0-0 Kwang Hee Lee

5/18 Sengoku - Fighters Confirmed

Tuesday, 18 March 2008

Sengoku has announced the first 4 fighters for their 2nd event. It will be very interesting to see Roger Gracie and I hope they are able to secure a worthy opponent for him.

Also on the card, Pancrase veteran Satoru Kitaoka. The very experienced Grabaka fighter Yuki Sasaki and the fighter most famous for kissing Heath Herring, Yoshihiro Nakao.

It is time for Sengoku to build on their first event, I thought it was a pretty good event so lets hope the second one is even better! With these fighters it has potential, just have to see how they match up.

Roger Gracie 1-0-0
Satoru Kitaoka 19-8-9
Yuki Sasaki 21-13-1
Yoshihiro “Kiss” Nakao 6-1-0

It is also worth noting that Sengoku has cut their VIP ticket price in half, also the RRS seats are 5,000 yen cheaper. I dont know why this is, I thought their attendence last time was pretty good...
