12/11 KSW Martial Arts Confrontation 12 - World Strongest Man Takes on MMA

Some news from Polish organization KSW again. They are putting on some of the best events in Europe, and as I am a fan of strong-man competitions, this is a huge fight for me.

As far as I know, this is Mariusz Pudzianowski's MMA debut, but he is not new to martial arts. He has done professional boxing, and it seems also some Kyokushin karate. But he made his name by winning the World Strongest Man competition 4 times! I am really looking forward to seeing what he can do in the MMA ring. His opponent is Polish boxing champion Marcin Najman.

This should be a fight for people who enjoy hard hitting heavyweights!

KSW MMA Traing Camp

I have been included on some very interesting mails the last week, and I really appreaciate them all!

One I want to share with MMA fans is this one. KSW is organizing a 10 day training camp with a chance to train with some of their best fighters. This is an AMAZING oppurtunity for fighters that want an experience over the summer. The guys at KSW are very serious and I just wish I would be able to join for this.

With eleven “Martal Arts Confrontation” events, two KSW Elemination and one KSW Extra under their belt, KSW Federation, the biggest MMA organization in Europe, owners Martin Lewandowski and Maciej Kawulski do not intend to rest on their laurels and still plan to popularize Mixed Martial Arts in Poland.

Ten-day long MMA Training Camp with KSW Team fighters, which starts on the 5th and ends on the 15th of July, is their new project. All the fighters and MMA enthusiasts, who want to participate in the camp, will be able to train with the best mixed martial artists in Poland. Antoni Chmielewski, Mamed Khalidov and Maciej Górski will coach for the first five days, whereas Krzysztof Kułak, Jan Błachowicz and Daniel Dowda will lead the training camp for the following days. All of them will pass on their technical knowledge, which they use in their fights. Comprehensive cardio and endurance training, with running sessions, intervals, outside work-outs and weight training, is also a part of the camp – says Michał Garnys, KSW Team strength and conditioning coach and project coordinator.

KSW Federation owners along with Garnys have decided that the holiday-conditioning resort in Jakubowo is the prefect place for the camp. Jakubowo lies on the south side of Probarskie lake. The resort is situated in woods, by the lake and for many years there have been organized various sports camps. The facility is perfectly suited for any kind of sporting activities.

5/15 KSW Martial Arts Confrontation - Pictures

Courtesy of KSW, here are some pictures from their event in Warsaw on May 15.

It was a very good event, and KSW are attracting some very good and talented fighters. The fight everyone talked about after this event was the Mamed Khalidov vs. Daniel Acacio. Khalidov is said to be in negotiations with DREAM, and after the performance here, I hope we see him in Japan soon.

But there were some very entertaining fights in the tournament as well. Vitor Nobrega showed that he is one to watch for the future, making his way to the final in December by finishing 2 fighters in 5:35. He will face the undefeated and equally impressive Aslambek Saidov in the final.

5/15 KSW Martial Arts Confrontation - RESULTS

KSW put on a very good card last night. As usual there was a 8-Man tournament on the card, the final will be held in December and it will be between Vitor Nobrega vs. Aslanbek Saidov.

The fight that got all the attention before the event was KSW fighter Mamed Khalidov who took on Pride veteran Daniel Acacio. Khalidov was able to do some damage with his knees in the clinch and Acacio went down early. A very good win for the Polish fighter in front of his home crowd.

5/15 KSW Martial Arts Confrontation - Updates

There has been a few changes since I last wrote about this event. A very good fight has been added, Mamed Khalidov will take on Daniel Acacio in what will be a very interesting fight.

Unfortunately, Marcin Najman has had to pull out due to injury and a replecement fight has been announced. KSW's Lukasz Jurkowski will take on the undefeated Hungarian Atila Vegh.

The last fighter in the 8-man tournament is Krzysztof Sadecki. Remeber, this time it is at 85kg, and the final will be held in December.

5/15 KSW Martial Arts Confrontation ***UPDATE***

A few of the fighter records were incorrect, they should now be corrected. Also added to the card is Mamed Khalidov, who is returning to KSW after a win in ShoXC in October 2008. His opponent is yet to be named.

There are lots of organizations in Europe that put on great shows that I know very little about, KSW is one of them.

KSW has been holding events in Poland for 5 years, and they have held 11 events (14 if you count eliminations etc). KSWs events are a bit different than what I am used to, it actually takes us back to the early days with 1-day tournaments.

For the KSW tournaments to date, there have been 8 fighters at 95kg. For the 12th event there is a change, the tournament will be at 85kg and the final will take place in December.

In addition to the tournament there will be some "super-fights", and it should be an exciting day of fights for the Polish fans.
