When did this blog start?
I started writing this blog September 2007.
Why did it start?
I started this because I was arranging with friends from work to go to events and found very little information about the events in English. I ended up translating the cards and sending out more e-mails than necessary, and thought it would be easier to put this on a blog they could look at. As it turned out, they were not checking it, but other people were.
Why is it still here?
This blog is something I do for fun. It is not a full-time gig, I have a full time job on the side. That’s why I am not always first with the news, and in some cases I am very late… I work 12-15 hour days and then do a few hours blogging on top of that.
This blog is 99% one man show, but I am getting some much valued help and support from new and old friends.
I's like to mention Finn Christian Stoveland http://www.fcstoveland.com/ who is making my banners.
What is the goal of this blog?
My goal has never changed, it is to provide when, where and who type information about the Japanese MMA scene. It is meant as a guide to foreigners in Japan who want to go and see these events. For me the focus is on Shooto, DEEP, Pancrase and Cage Force, basically there is not much information around these events before they happen.
When I go to events I buy tickets and go as a normal audience member (no press-pass). I take the pictures from my seat with an affordable camera. What I experience is something anyone can experience in Japan.
In the cases I voice my opinion, they are 100% my own and I am happy to discuss them.
***UPDATE***
Since I wrote this, there has been a lot of changes in my life. I no longer have a job, so for a transition period I am doing this 100%. Of course, I do it for fun it wont look like a professional site but I try the best I can ;).
The plan is for me to stay in Japan until March 2009, at that point I might go home to Norway. For now, I blog and train at Paraestra in Kashiwa.

Thanks for doing what you do here. I subscribe to your blog and its part of my daily reads.
Thanks for that, I put a lot of effort in, but its all because I enjoy it! That people read what I write makes it extra fun.
Really appreciate what you are doing. This site and nightmare of battle are the first I check in the morning. Sherdog et al’s coverage isn’t the best for Japanese mma so I rely on people like you.
As a side note do they rank fighters in Japan? I know rankings are essentially subjective and all that, but it would be interesting to see how the Japanese fight media rate fighters in comparison to the US. Just a tought.
Thanks again
Just to add to the compliments - you really do an excellent job and it's appreciated for people like me in the UK who are interested but can't speak a word of Japanese.
Thanks guys!
ng,
In Japan, rankings are not a common thing. Some organizations have its own that are updated regularly (Shooto and Pancrase come to ming), but there is no common ranking that I am aware of.
I have been planning to post them, but never seem to get time. One of these days... ;)
Thank you for giving us the heads-up on Japanese MMA events. MUCH more exciting than the US ones. Please continue and don't OBSESS over here, 'cause you work SO hard~! (12-15 hrs.?!)
As a huge Shooto and DEEP fan I must say that this is the ONLY site where I can feed my addiction.
Thank you for the work and quick replies to comments.
Great job, keep it up. I still prefer the Japanese MMA promotions and state side coverage is pretty sparse. Thanks for all your hard work!
Hey there i was wondering if you could tell me where to find shootboxing and pancrase events on the internet please. i would really like to see some thank you.
I got to be honest with you, I am not very good at searching for things like that...
I think there are some Shoot Boxing on youtube, but Pancrase is very difficult to get.. Sorry, just not on top of that side of the tech world yet.
