A interesting event in Differ Ariake earlier today. Pancrase legend Yuki Kondo steped into the ring against Yuji Hisamatsu. Another highlight was the flyweight title fight between champion Mitsuhisa Sunabe and Isao Hirose. The champion again defended against a very promising challenger.

In addition to that, the popular Seiya Kawahara extende his winning streak after his loss in the Sengoku tournament.

10/25 Pancrase Changing Tour - Title Fight Announced

Sunday, 23 August 2009

Pancrase have added a flyweight title fight to this card on October 25 in Differ Ariake. The champion Mitsuhisa Sunabe will take on undefeated challenger Isao Hirose. Hirose was the Neo-Blood champion in 2008, and the fighter he defeated in the final, Takuya Eizumi got the title shot before him. Now Hirose is rightly ranked #1 and he has earned his title shot.

Also on the card is Seiya Kawahara, Kawahara fought in the DREAM featherweight GP, now he is back at bantamweight, something that should suit him a lot better. He has already had a shot at the Pancrase title, and is one of the more popular Pancrase fighters, mainly because he tends to finish his fights in spectacular fashion. He is ranked #1, but had his title shot in December last year, and he might have to wait a little more for another one. This time he is taking on Ryota Sasaki, who is on a 4 fight winning streak, but would be the underdog in this fight.

Previously announced on this card was the fight between the bantamweight king of Pancrase and the former Shooto featherweight champion and last year's Cage Force tournament finalist, Masahiro Oishi. This should be a very good fight!

Flyweight King of Pancrase title fight:
Mitsuhisa Sunabe 10-5-3 vs. 6-0-0 Isao Hirose

Bantam: Seiya Kawahara 7-2-0 vs. 4-2-1 Ryota Sasaki
Fly: Takuya Eizumi 5-2-0 vs. 3-2-1 Kiyotaka Shimizu
Bantam: Manabu Inoue 7-5-1 vs. 19-11-7 Masahiro Oishi

Participants:
Ichiro Kanai 9-10-3
Keiichiro Yamamiya 36-24-9

6/7 Pancrase Changing Tour - Weigh-In & Fight Order

Saturday, 6 June 2009

It is a stacked card that Pancrase is putting on in Differ Ariake tomorrow (Sunday). The fact that Sengoku veteran Ryo Kawamura opens the main card should be an indication of how stacked this card is. The Pancrase Light-Heavyweight title holder is fighting in a non-title fight.

The main event will see Sengoku Lightweight title holder Satoru Kitaoka take on Pancrase and DREAM (Dynamite) veteran Yukio Sakagushi. This fight will probably last around 1 minute. Either a KO to Sakaguchi, or a more likely submission to Kitaoka.

The co-main event is the Flyweight King of Pancrase title fight between Mitsuhisa Sunabe and Yukio Sakaguchi. Also on the card is Isao Hirose, with a win here he should be next in line for a title shot.

Another Sengoku veteran fighting in this event is Korean standout Choi Mu Bae, who defeated Dave Hermann in the last Sengoku event. He is taking on Pride veteran Katsuhisa Fujii.

Differ Ariake should be packed for this event!

4/5 Pancrase Changing Tour 2 - RESULTS

Sunday, 5 April 2009

Pancrase held an event in Differ Ariake today too. It was an interesting one, with a title fight as the main event.

"AB" has really gotten into his stride after a very tough start to his pro MMA career. In the flyweight division, both the finalists from last years Neo-Blood tournament were in action and both were impressive.

The 2 Sengoku training fighters, Maximo Blanco and Shigeki Osawa had mixed fortunes.

4/5 Pancrase Changing Tour 2 - Fight Order

Friday, 3 April 2009

Pancrase is putting on a card to "compete" with the DREAM event in Nagoya, and it is a decent card. I am not sure that the main event will be the best fight on the card, or the most interesting for that matter, but it is a title fight.

Koji Oishi is taking on Maximo Blanco, who will try out his new ring name "Makishi" for the first time. It will be a good test for Blanco, and at the same I think Oishi's style will suit him. I see Blanco taking this and look for some slams in this one.

If you go to this event, make sure to get there in time for the Neo-Blood fights! They start at 14:45, and it will be worth your time! A total of 22 fights on the card.

4/5 Pancrase Changing Tour 2 - Eizumi's Opponent Announced

Thursday, 5 March 2009

Takuya Eizumi is one of the more entertaining fighters out there, he has gone the distance only once and that was in the Neo-Blood final in 2008. He suppered his only loss on that occation, but since then has been stopping all opponents in their tracks.

This time he is taking on a very experienced opponent in "Yukito", but Eizumi is raked #2 in the Pancrase Flyweight division, and I cant see him losing this one.

Pancrase have also announced that they will be selling a new T-shirt at this event.

4/5 Pancrase Changing Tour 2 - Maximo Blanco Debuts with New Ring Name!

Wednesday, 25 February 2009

Pancrase have added a very interesting fight to this event. Maximo Blanco have been added to take on former King of Pancrase, Koji Oishi. Blanco have also deceided on a Japanese ring name (a must to get really big here) it is 真騎士 or Makishi.

Blanco has showed that he is a top athlete, and this fight can go either way. Koji Oishi usually goes the distance, and his takedown defense is very good. I really think it is a match-up that will suit Blanco, but he needs to finish this early. If it goes past round 2, I see Oishi taking this, but my guess is an early finish by Blanco. Look for a slam/suplex (his speciality).

The card also has a welterweight King of Pancrase fight, but I still felt it was missing something. The fight added today does a very good job of filling the empty space.

Added:
Koji Oishi 17-8-5 vs. 2-1-0 (1NC) Maximo "Makishi" Blanco

4/5 Pancrase Changing Tour 2 - Fights Added

Friday, 6 February 2009

Pancrase have added 2 fights to the main-card for their April 5 event. In addition to that, 6 participants were announced. This card will also include the welterweight King of Pancrase fight and Neo-Blood Tournament fights!

If you are planning to go to this, I really recommend getting the most out of it, go to the Neo-Blood Tournament fights too!! They were very entertaining last time. The set up and explainations are after the main-card.

Speaking of the Neo-Blood Tournament, 3 of last year's finalists will be on the main card (Isao Hirose, Hirotoshi Saito and Takuya Eizumi).

Added to the main-card:
Welter: Masahiro Toryu 6-4-4 vs. 3-8-2 Seiki Ryo
Fly: Isao Hirose 4-0-0 vs. Takeyasu Hirono

Previously Announced:
Welterweight King of Pancrase title fight:
Takuya Wada 18-8-9 vs. 6-7-0 Tomoyoshi Iwamiya

Participating:
Koji Oishi 17-8-5
Ichiro Kanai 9-9-3
Yuichi Ikari 10-5-3
Takuya Eizumi 4-1-0
Tashiro Akai (Nishiuchi) 9-5-9
Hirotoshi Saito 2-0-1

That was the main-card, it will start at 5PM. The Neo-Blood fights start about 2:45 and I really recommend these. I promise that they will be just as entertaining as the main-card.

There are some things I am not 100% sure on, but the eliminators last week will fight finals this time. I can only assume they will enter the tournament with the other participants listed below (otherwise it doesnt make sense to me). The fighters that fought in the eliminators were inexperienced compared to some of the fighters that are entering the 1st round.

There are 6 (3 for lightweight) participants for each weight class listed below, but include the eliminator fights and it will make sense.

This will be the 1st round in the tournament, 2nd round will be in June and Finals in August.

15th Neo-Blood Eliminator Finals (1x5min.):
Fly: Daisuke Tsujita vs. Gou Yamanaka
Bantam:Daisuke Sugishima vs. Taro Shimmasaki
Feather: Shigeyuki Uchiyama vs. Takehito Noguchi
Light: Koshi Obata vs. Keigo Hirayama

15th Neo-Blood Tournament Participants:

Kiyotaka Shimizu 0-1-1
Takuma Ishii 1-3-1
Toshihiro Shimizu 1-0-0
Tokuaki Ninomiya 3-5-0
Yuichiro Yajima 6-6-1

Bantamweight 61.2kg
Daisuke Endo 3-2-0

8/27 Pancrase Shining Tour - Neo-Blood Finals

Thursday, 5 June 2008

Pancrase have announced the Neo-Blood finals. I am looking forward to seeing Steve Magdaleno in this, but so far he is listed without an opponent. Hopefully they are able to change that, his last fight was very impressive despite injuring his knee early on in the fight.

Bantamweight: Takuya Eizumi 1-0-0 vs. 2-0-0 Isao Hirose
Featherweight: Yasutomo Tanaka 5-1-3 vs. 1-0-0 Hirotoshi Saito
Lightweight: Steve Magdaleno 4-0-1 vs. X
