9/4 Shooto Kitazawa Shooto 2009 Vol. 2 - RESULTS

Sunday, 6 September 2009

On Friday in Kitazawa Townhall, K'z Factory held "Kitazawa Shooto 2009 Vol. 2", without the biggest Shooto stars, but ith some stars in the making. Yoshioka's record might not have been the best going in, and just looking at that he was probably the underdog here. He did however bring tons of experience against top fighters. Yoshioka was able to use an omopalata to sweep Hiroyuki Abe, in the process getting in top position and finishing the fight with a guillotine choke. This was a fight that will impact the flyweight Shooto rankings.

In the co-main event Matsufuji's 3 fight winning streak was broken just 39 seconds into the fight, when Akagi landed a left hook that KOed the 31 year old fighter.

Monday, 17 August 2009

Shooto have announced the fight order for their next event in Kitazawa Town Hall on September 4.

The main-event will be a Class A fight between KZ Factory's Hiroyuki Abe and Hiroaki Yoshioka. Yoshioka has fought some good fighters, but does only have 2 wins in his last 10 fights and Abe will be another tough opponent.

Hiroharu Matsufuji had a bad start to his career, losing his first 4 fights. That has turned and he has won his last 3. He will be taking on Toshimichi Akagi who has not had a win in his last 4 fights.

Returning to professional Shooto on this card will be the soon to be 40 year old Hiroki Kita. He will be taking on the 9 year younger Yasuhiro Kanayama.

2/28 Shooto Gig Tokyo Vol. 1 - Fights Announced

Tuesday, 20 January 2009

Shooto announced the start of a new "tour" on Sunday. It is an extention of the "Gig" tours. This time they are adding "Gig Tokyo" to the gig's they already have (North, Central, West etc.). The first Gig Tokyo event will be held in Shinjuku Face Saturday 28.

There are already a few interesting fights added to this card. Ganjo Tantsuku is currently ranked #3 in the Shooto welterweight division. He has had 3 losses in his career, and this time he gets a chance to re-match the first fighter to defeat him in professional Shooto. Kenichiro Togashi defeated Tentsuku by deceision in their last encounter almost 4 years ago. Since then, Togashi has only won once but he has faced fighters such as Mitsuhiro Ishida, Joachim Hansen and Yusuke Endo to name a few. This should be a good fight and I am guessing it might be the main event.

Announced:
Welter (A): Ganjo Tentsuku 9-3-2 vs. 7-6-5 Kenichiro Togashi
Welter (B): Komei Okada vs. 5-8-1 vs. 2-4-3 Shinobu Miura

Rookie Tournament Fights:
Welter: Junpei Konno vs. Yohei Ota
Welter: Yoshio Tokuhisa vs. Koji Nishioka
Welter: MIKE vs. Fumihiko Kawamura
Feather: Yuki Yasunaga vs. Yoshihiko Matsumoto
Bantam: 保貴 (?) Ishigami vs. Yuya Kaneuchi
