12/23 Shooto Alternative 1

Thursday, 10 December 2009

Shooto will be putting on an event in Osaka's Sumiyoshi Kumin Hall.

There are some good talent on the card, as well as some debutants.

Tomohiko Yoshida has won 4 fights in a row since his last fight in Shooto and all the debutants here have a lot of experience with amature shooto.

There are also 3 rookie tournament champtions on the card (Konishi, Shiba and Eda), this should be a good event.

Announced:
Middle: Taisuke Okuno 7-4-2 vs. 4-1-1 Masaki Konishi
Welter: Hiroshi Shiba 8-5-0 vs. 9-3-5 Yukinari Tamura
Feather: Kosuke Eda 7-3-4 vs. 6-2-0 Makoto Akazawa

4/12 Shooto GIG Central Vol. 17 - RESULTS

Sunday, 12 April 2009

Shooto had pulled out some of their Nagoya regulars to fight on this card, and in addition to the 5 fights on the main-card, there were 3 amature fights. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find the results for the amature fights, but here are the results for the other fights.

In the main event, Hiroshi Shiba was able to get Hattori's back and finish the fight with a rear-naked choke. Hattori showed that he was a dangerous fighter though, and Shiba left the fight with a bloody nose, it also meant a stop to Hattori's 3 fight winning streak.

Paolo Milano had gone winless for 3 fights, and finally got back on the winning streak, even if it was a very close decision.

Welter: Hiroshi Shiba Def. Kenichi Hattori by rear-naked choke Round 1 4:53

Welter: Paolo Milano Def. Takahiro Kajita by Decision 2-1
Middle: Takesuke Kume Def. Hirosumi Sugiura by Decision 2-0
Bantam: Joji Shimada Def. Hiroshi Sakamoto by rear-naked choke Round 1 3:49

Rookie Tournament:
Fly: Doraku Mori Def. Daiki Yamaishi by Decision 3-0

Amature Fights:
Light: Yuta Sasaki vs. Masaru Kadowaki
Feather: Naoki Kawai vs. Takeshi Kasugai
Yutaka Umeya vs. Masashi Maeguchi

4/12 Shooto GIG Central Vol. 17

Saturday, 4 April 2009

Its going to be a great week for MMA in Nagoya. First tomorrow DREAM is holding their first event in Nagoya, then next week Shooto will have their event there. The only negative for the hard core fans in Nagoya is the absence of their local star Hatsu Hioki.

The GIG Central cards dont really feel the same without Hioki fighting, but it should still be an entertaining event.

The main-event will feature a regular at the Shooto Nagoya events, Kenichi Hattori has fought in 9 of the 16 GIG Central events to date. Outside of that, he has 3 fights. Hattori is now on a 3 fight winning streak, and he is awarded with the main-event here. He is taking on Purebred Kyoto's Hiroshi Shiba.

Also on the card is Paolo Milano, who has gone winless for 3 fights and will be looking to get back on the winning track, and Nagoya local Takesuke Kume, who is undefeated home in Nagoya.

Main-Event:
Welter: Kenichi Hattori 6-3-3 vs. 5-5-0 Hiroshi Shiba

Welter: Takahiro Kajita 9-8-3 vs. 6-4-1 Paolo Milano
Middle: Hirosumi Sugiura 3-4-2 vs. 3-1-2 Takesuke Kume
Bantam: Hiroshi Sakamoto 3-4-0 vs. 1-4-0 Joji Shimada

Rookie Tournament:
Fly: Doraku Mori vs. Daiki Yamaishi

Amature Fights:
Light: Yuta Sasaki vs. Masaru Kadowaki
Feather: Naoki Kawai vs. Takeshi Kasugai
Yutaka Umeya vs. Masashi Maeguchi

10/26 Shooto - Gig Central Vol. 16

Saturday, 23 August 2008

Shooto have announced the main event for their October 26 event in Nagoya already. So far there is no Hatsu Hioki on the card (I am a bit surprised, he normally turns up on these cards), but the main event should be a good one. It is the Pacific Rim Title Fight between #1 ranked Yoshitaro Niimi and #3 ranked Xavier Lucas. The Pacific Middleweight title is currently available.

Also returning in Mutsumi Kasai, from Sherdog it looks like her last MMA fight was in 2003... I am not sure if it is the same girl, but it looks like it (a bit unusual name).

Main-Event - Pacific Rim Middleweight Title Fight:
Yoshitaro Niimi 6-2-2 vs. 4-1-1 Xavier Lucas

Welterweight: Masato Fujiwara 5-10-5 vs. 5-3-3 Kenichi Hattori
Bantamweight: Hiroshi Sakamoto 3-3-0 vs. 2-4-0 Hiroharu Matsufuji

Flyweight: Kenichi Sawada vs. Teppei Masuda

Rookie Tournament
Lightweight: Naohiro Mizuno vs. Mitsuru Kobayashi

Rookie Tournament 2nd Round Light-Heavyweight:
Makoto "Chomoranma 1/2" Maeda 1-1-1 vs. 2-0-0 Naoji Mikoshiba
