10/17 Pancrase Changing Tour - Results

Pancrase held their 5th Changing tour event yesterday in front of a sold out crowd in Shinjuku Face.

The main event saw the #1 ranked welterweight in Pancrase, Tomoyoshi Iwamiya, take on the relatively inexperienced Shingo Suzuki. But on this occation youth got the better of experience. Suzuki might have fought his way into a position to be the next to challenge the champion Takuya Wada.

10/17 Pancrase Changing Tour - Fight Order

The #1 ranked welterweight, Tomoyoshi Iwamiya will take on the talented Shingo Suzuki. Suzuki's record might not look the best, but he has fought some very tough opponents. This is a great opportunity for him.

Also on the card is the very exciting Hirotoshi Saito, he had his Sengoku debut on the Sengoku 8 undercard (he won that fight) and he also won the Neo-Blood tournament (featherweight) in 2008. He is taking on Grabaka's undefeated Shigeyuki Uchiyama, who was the Neo-Blood tournament winner in 2009.

There are some very interesting talent on this card, I have already mentioned Saito and Uchiyama. But it will be interesting to see some of the other talent on this card as well.

6/30 DEEP Impact 42 - Fights Announced

DEEP have announced a few fights for their DEEP 42 card. The event will take place in Korakuen Hall on Tuesday June 30. The main event should be the DEEP Middleweight title fight between challenger Riki Fukuda and last year's tournament winner Yuichi Nakanishi, this will be a repeat of the final.

But there are more interesing fights on this card.

2 true veterans of the Japanese MMA scene will face off. Ryuta Sakurai will take on Hiromitsu Kanehara, and between them they have almost 30 years experience. Kanehara's career has been on a slump over the last few years, since 2002 he has only won 2 fights. However, he got a win in his DEEP debut in April and will be looking to build on that. Sakurai on the other hand has had some ok years, but he tends to loose to top fighters like Ryo Chonan and Riki Fukuda. It will be a very interesting battle between the veterans.

A lot of fans will also be excited to see Bernard Ackah on this card. He is returning to the MMA ring after getting a strong win in the ShootBoxing ring in April. He is taking on the experinced Korean Young Choi, Choi has had a mixed start to his DEEP career, with 1-2 record so far.

The undefeated Kazuhisa Tazawa will take on a Korean fighter, and I am not sure of the name, I think it is Jae Young Kim. I believe he is also scheduled to fight on the Art of War card on May 23.

Also look for the talented Hiryu Okamoto, there are lots of good fighters coming from the Mach Dojo and he is one of them. This time he is taking on the veteran Tomoya Miyashita.

1/25 ZST 19 - Results

This is the main ZST card of the day. This event starts at 6PM (Japan time and it should be a very good event.

The main-event is the welterweight title fight between 2 experienced fighters, crowd favorite "Mini-Hong Man Choi" Masayuki Okude is taking on Pancrase super-veteran Osami Shibuya, who has more than 80 professional fights to his name.

Other than the main event, there are some good ZST fighters on this card, Keisuke Fujiwara and Shunichi Shimizu to name a couple.

Making his ZST debut is Korean "RYO". "RYO" participated in the DEEP Middleweight tournament last year, but lost by decision to Daijiro Matsui (a fight I thought he should have won), he went on to loss again in the tournament reserve fight to Ryuta Sakurai. He is a very good fighter though, and I look forward to seeing him in ZST.

1/25 ZST. 19 - Fight Order

The other ZST event on the 25 is ZST 19. In general terms, this should be the event with the bigger fights on it, but I actually think the entertainment should be very good on both of these cards.

I will be there for both, and will be updating the results live! This event is almost sold out, so if you are planning to get tickets I would try to get there as early as possible (doors open at 17.00).

The main-event is the ZST welterweight title fight between Osami Shibuya and Masayuki Okude. This should be a good fight, Shibuya is by far the more experienced competitor, but Okude is a very popular guy and the crowd is sure to get into this one.

Other fighters to look for on this card include up and coming ZST star Keisuke Fujiwara, the experienced Shunichi Shimizu taking on Takeaki Miyakawa (on a 4 fight winning streak) and making his ZST debut is Korean Young "Ryo" Choi.

There are 12 fights on the card, and is should be a good way to finish a long day of fights! I cant wait for Sunday!

1/25 ZST. 19/SWAT! - Fights Announced

ZST is holding a double header in Shinjuku Face on January 25. The first event starts at 13.00, and is the "SWAT! in FACE vol. 2" event. The main card is the ZST. 19 event, which starts at 17.00 in the same arena.

Today they have added fights to both these cards, but keep you eyes on a grappling match on the SWAT! card. Hiroshi Tsuruya (who happens to be my BJJ instructor), is taking on Ichiro Kojima. The card also includes 2 tournament finals, in the fly- and welterweight Genesis tournament.

The main-card includes a welterweight title fight between Osami Shibuya and the very popular Masayuki Okude. Another interesting fight to keep an eye on is the fight between Shinichi Shimizu and Takeaki Miyakawa. Miyakawa is on a 4 fight winning streak and Shimizu lost his last fight by KO. Shimizu will be looking to come back with a win here, and he is very efficient in finishing fights. It should be a good battle.

ZST have announced the first fights for their first event in 2009. Looks like the main event will be the welterweight title fight between the Pancrase super-veteran Osami Shibuya and ZST star "mini Hong Man Choi" Masayuki Okude.

Also added is Korean "Ryo", previously "Ryo" has mainly fought in SpiritMC and he is a very good fighter. His luck in Japan has not been the best, but I would favour him against ZST fighter Kenji Nagai.
