2/28 DEEP 46 Impact - Live Results

DEEP 46 is underway in Korakuen Hall, and as usual I am following the blows on Sherdog's chat.

There has been a few big upsets already. A very good card, and I thought some of the fights would go the distance. So far though, all early finishes.

As usual, there are some announcements in the ring. Bernard Ackah, Yuya Shirai, Katsunori Kikuno, Ryo Chonan, and Miku Matsumoto enteres.

Bernar Ackah was suppose to be in the LHW tournament, but broke his hand. He now would like to fight on the April card, and I am guessing he would be a reserve fight for the tournament there.

Miku Matsumoto is confirming rumors that she will be retiring, announceing that she would like to have an exhibition fight before that. Very sad, as she is one of the top female fighters out there.

The fighters have made weight for tomorrow's big event in Korakuen Hall.

I am very excited to see how the light-heavy weight tournament plays out. The big favorite is Christian “Tonton” M’Pumbu, but Japanese fighters at home should not be underestimated.

The main event on the card will see DEEP featherweight champion, Takafumi Otsuka take on Dream veteran Takeshi Yamazaki.

The event is close to a sell out, and it should be a very good one!

DEEP have announced the fight order for DEEP 46, which will be held in Korakuen Hall. It is looking like a very good card too.

The main event will be DEEP featherweight champion, Takafumi Otsuka, taking on DREAM veteran Takeshi Yamazaki. Yamazaki has not had a win in 4 fights, and will be very hungry, but taking on the champion will not be an easy task.

The light-heavyweight tournament have had a change, Carlos Toyota is out and is replaced by another "Hard Combat" fighter. Edison "Pegaredo" (I think it might be Edison Salman Mishio, but I am not sure).

2/28 DEEP 46 Impact - Light-Heavyweight Tournament Announced

Deep have announced a light-heavyweight tournament for their event on February 28 in Korakuen Hall. It looks like it will be interesting, but I thought Bernard Ackah would be in there somehow. We will have to wait and see what happens.

In addition to that, there are some good fights added to the card too. Riki Fukuda will take on Rings veteran Hiromitsu Kanehara.

Paraestra Chiba's Toshiaki Kitada will take on another tough opponent in DEEP favorite "Barbaro44".

DEEP have announced the complete fight card for DEEP 44. The headline will be the Megaton Title fight between the champion Yusuke Kawaguchi and Seigo Mizuguchi. The co-main event will be female fight between DEEP queen Miku Matsumoto and the experienced "Windy" Tomomi.

Kleber Koike continues to meet tough opponents, this time its Paraestra Chiba's Toshiaki Kitada.

6/30 DEEP Impact 42 - Fights Announced

DEEP have announced a few fights for their DEEP 42 card. The event will take place in Korakuen Hall on Tuesday June 30. The main event should be the DEEP Middleweight title fight between challenger Riki Fukuda and last year's tournament winner Yuichi Nakanishi, this will be a repeat of the final.

But there are more interesing fights on this card.

2 true veterans of the Japanese MMA scene will face off. Ryuta Sakurai will take on Hiromitsu Kanehara, and between them they have almost 30 years experience. Kanehara's career has been on a slump over the last few years, since 2002 he has only won 2 fights. However, he got a win in his DEEP debut in April and will be looking to build on that. Sakurai on the other hand has had some ok years, but he tends to loose to top fighters like Ryo Chonan and Riki Fukuda. It will be a very interesting battle between the veterans.

A lot of fans will also be excited to see Bernard Ackah on this card. He is returning to the MMA ring after getting a strong win in the ShootBoxing ring in April. He is taking on the experinced Korean Young Choi, Choi has had a mixed start to his DEEP career, with 1-2 record so far.

The undefeated Kazuhisa Tazawa will take on a Korean fighter, and I am not sure of the name, I think it is Jae Young Kim. I believe he is also scheduled to fight on the Art of War card on May 23.

Also look for the talented Hiryu Okamoto, there are lots of good fighters coming from the Mach Dojo and he is one of them. This time he is taking on the veteran Tomoya Miyashita.

4/16 DEEP 41 - Fights Announced

Deep 41 should be another good DEEP event. It was announced yesterday that DEEP 52kg champion Miku Matsumoto will take on an American fighter in Nicdali Calanic. Japanese media is very interested in this fight, despite it being a non-title fight. Miku is on a 9 fight winning streak and have also done well in Shoot Boxing lately.

There is also a lightweight title fight announced, the new champion will be deceided between Katsunori Kikuno and Koichiro Matsumoto. These are 2 fighters that have been in great shape lately, and it should be a good fight.

Announced as a participant is Hiromitsu Kanehara, the veteran of Pancrase, Pride and Rings will be making his DEEP debut. And he will be hungry, having only won 1 of his last 15(!) fights.

I am also hearing rumors of a big name Japanese fighter maybe being added to this card.

10/1 Pancrase Shining Tour - RESULTS

Just came back from the Pancrase event tonight, upgraded my camera and the pictures will be up this Friday. After the event there are a couple of things that stick out... The 4 last fights were AWESOME!! I have seen Hisamatsu fight 3 times now, but only today did he show me anything, this was a very good fight and extremely entertaining, even though he lost the decision.

With Kei Yamamiya in the main event I have the same feeling, he has been boring every time I have watched him, until tonight! Ryo Kawamura really brought the action and handed it to Yamamiya. Yamamiya on his hand really answered the challenge and it turned out to be a fight worthy of a King of Pancrase title fight. Good job to both the fighters! It should be mentioned that Kawamura was out in the lobby just minutes after the fight, signing t-shirts for fans as they were walking home. It is really the sort of thing I like to see from a figher.

Again Maximo Blanco, the Sengoku sponored fighter was close to controversy... There was a discussion of whether this should be a NC today as well... A fighter HAS to stop when the ref says so... Babalu had a similar experience in UFC and Blanco REALLY(!) needs to learn the lesson of respecting his opponent! He needs to stop when the ref says so.

Ok, so I am little hard on him right now, but he is walking a very thin line and this is an important lesson. No one will fight him if he continues. That being said, he is a HUGE talent, and if he learns (as I am sure he will) he is a force.

10/1 Pancrase Shining Tour - Fights added/Fight Order announced

Pancrase have added 2 fights to the October 1 event, one of these I predict will be a masacre. Maximo Blanco destroyed his previous opponent, but got a NC for an accidental headbut leading to a cut. It was a controversial fight, but there is no doubt that this guy is talented. "AB" fought agaist Steve Magdaleno in the same event. He suffered a loss, and never really showed anything. Magdaleno was better standing and on the ground. I predict a very tough fight for "AB".

The other fight added today is between Yasutomo Tanaka, who also fought in the Neo-Blood finals, he lost the final to Hirotoshi Saito in a very good fight. Hayato Shimizu last to Hirotoshi Saito in the Neo-Blood semi-final, so this looks like it will be an interesting fight.

10/1 Pancrase Shining Tour - Fights added

The Shining Tour goes on, and so far this year there has been some very good events. Today, they announced another 4 fights for their October 1. event in Korakuen Hall.

The main event will most likely be the Light-Heavy weight title fight between Kei Yamamiya and Sengoku veteran Ryo Kawamura. It should be a very interesting fight, Yamamiya has been very good this year, and beat Kawamura in their last fight. Lets see if he can repeat that performance. Yamamiya tends to go the distance and is on a 3 fights winning streak. Kawamura lost his last fight against Kevin Randleman by decision in Sengoku 2.

6/1 Pancrase Shining Tour 5 - Fight Order Announced

Pancrase has announced the fight order for their event next Sunday. There are some big Pancrase stars on this card and it should be a good event. Added to the card is exciting Brazilian Rafael Dos Anjos, who will make his Japan debut against Takaichi Hirayama. Also fighting is Yukio Sakaguchi, who is always fun to watch, even if his record is not the best.

6/1 Pancrase Shining Tour - Korakuen Hall

Pancrase is holding 2 events in 1 week. The Osaka event is happening this Sunday then next Sunday we will have the Shining Tour in Korakuen Hall. I am not sure who "Junior" is, but the Pancrase site lists him with a 9-0 record, he is a Chute Boxe fighter and his fight with Izuru Takeuchi should be a good one. A good mix of experienced and talented fighters in this event.

Kanehara has not won a fight since 2001, lets see if he can get a win against KeiYamamiya.

3/26 Pancrase - Shining Tour 2 - RESULTS

Just came home from an event I had very high expectations for. It didn't turn out as well as I thought... The fights were not as good as the names on the card, but that happens some times. In the mix though, were some fights that did live up to my expectations.

Alavutdin has cemented his reputation as a KO machine! This guy is ploughing through the Pancrase ranks. Again winning by KO in less than 90 seconds. Also Sandros were impressive in his win, extending his winning record to 11-0. He also earned his shot at the Pancrase title with that win. Kenji Arai vs. Shinsuke Shoji was also a very entertaining fight, this time Shoji came out a clear winner.

I was really looking forward to seeing Takeuchi fight, but the most exciting thing about his fight was the entry. I will post pictures tomorrow.
