DREAM held the weighin for their 13th event today. It should be a good one, but I wish there were a few more fights on the card.

10/25 DREAM 12 - James Thompson Added - Filho out!

Friday, 23 October 2009

FEG have today announced the opponent for Alistair Overeem for the this Sundays event in Osaka. James Thompson have been rumored to take the fight, and that has now been confirmed.

Both these fighters are popular with the Japanese crowd, and I think it will be an entertaining fight.

This card has had some setbacks and are missing a few of the fighters that were announced to participate. FEG have had to face some critizism for that, but I think and hope this card delivers.

The card should now be complete, with 9 fights.

Because this card is so close to Sengoku 11, I have added a servey, which card do you think is better? (on the right)

***UPDATE***
Paulo Filho is off the card, no announcement has been made official as to who is replacing him, but the rumor is that it will be Tarec Saffiedine.

10/25 DREAM 12 - Fights Announced, Cage Revealed

Wednesday, 30 September 2009

DREAM 12 will be a big event for FEG, not only have they announced some big names for the card, but it will also be the first FEG event in a cage. DREAM have chosen a 6-sided cage, and you can see a picture here (taken from GBR):

The fights announced today will be very interesting. Eddie Alvarez will be taking on DEEP champion, Katsunri Kikuno in what will be my pick for fight of the night. Kikuno have had a very good 2009 so far, with no losses and wins over Bu Kyung Jung, Koichiro Matsumoto and Andre "Dida".

The other fight announced today will see the newly crowned Cage Force champion, Kuniyoshi Hironaka (does this mean Cage Force will lose another champion?), will take on Korean standout "Parky". "Parky" has also gone 3-0 in DEEP this year, and deserves the step up, I still think Hironaka will be a size too big for him.

Announced:
Eddie Alvarez 18-2-0 vs. 12-1-1 Katsunori Kikuno
Won Sik "Parky" Park 7-1-1 vs. 15-6-0 Kuniyoshi Hironaka

Participants:
Kiyoshi Tamura 33-13-2
Yoshiro Maeda 25-7-2
Andrews Nakahara 2-1-0
Paulo Filho 18-1-0
Alistair Overeem 29-11-0
Marius Zaromskis 12-3-0
Myeon Ho Bae 8-4-0

9/12 Cage Force - Fights Announced

Friday, 4 September 2009

**UPDATE**
It looks like the Hironaka vs. Koyama fight will be for the Cage Force title.

Cage Force have announced some fights for their upcoming event in Differ Ariake. And I am really excited to see UFC veteran take on a more quiet performer in Yoshihiro Koyama. Koyama is one of the fighters on my banner (the other more recognizable) and he is IMO one of the best fighters in Japan that have not been picked up by a big organization. Koyama has not lost since February 2006, but this time he is facing a very experineced opponent and the winner here should be the #1 contender to Mizuto Hirota's Cage Force LW title.

Also, look out for the talented Masato Kobayashi on this card, he is 3-0 in his professional career and came 3rd in the 6th amature shooto freshman tournament's featherweight division.

Light: Kuniyoshi Hironaka 14-6-0 vs. 12-2-1 Yoshihiro Koyama
Light: Yasunori Kanehara 2-5-2 vs. 2-2-0 Hiroki "KG Shinto" Kuga
Feather: Wataru Miki 14-9-3 vs. 6-6-2 Tomonori Taniguchi
Feather: Wataru Takahashi 8-11-4 vs. 3-3-0 Masayoshi "Randleman" Ichikawa
Bantam: Masato Kobayashi 3-0-0 vs. 3-2-0 Daisuke Sugishima
Bantam: Hirokazu Nishimura 3-3-1 vs. 1-4-0 Yoshihiro Matsunaga
Valkyrie Feather: Kyoko Takabayashi 9-4-0 vs. 5-7-0 Akiko Naito

Preliminary Fights:

The main card kicked of with a fighter that is very entertaining, "Randleman" Ichikawa always comes out hard, and he did so again! The two first fightes were of the very short kind.

6/27 Cage Force - Fight Order

Thursday, 25 June 2009

GCM have finalized their card for this Saturday. The card is a little thinner than what I would normaly expect from a Cage Force event, but keeping in mind their financial problems last year, they are probably doing the right thing. Still a very good card, the quality is there and it should be a good event for the fans that make their way out.

The main-event will be a very interesting fight, UFC veteran Hironaka is taking on Olympic medalist Nagata.

There is also another UFC veteran on the card, K-Taro will be trying to get back on the winning track after his upset loss in November.

10. Light: Kuniyoshi Hironaka 13-6-0 vs. 4-5-1 Katsuhiko Nagata
9. Welter: Keita Nakamura "K-Taro" 15-4-2 vs. 6-8-0 Tomoyoshi Iwamiya

6/27 Cage Force - Fights Added

Thursday, 18 June 2009

Cage Force have announced another very good addition to the June 27 card in Differ Ariake. UFC veteran Kuniyoshi Hironaka will take on DREAM veteran Katsuhiko Nagata. Nagata has not had much luck lately, he has gone 4 fights without a win and will be desperate for a win here. The former Olympian needs this win, and I have a feeling that the winner of this fight might very well be on a DREAM or Sengoku card in the near future.

Also added earlier this week was 2 preliminary fights.

Added:
Light: Kuniyoshi Hironaka 13-6-0 vs. 4-5-1 Katsuhiko Nagata

Preliminary Fights:
Welter: Yusaku Inoue vs. 0-1-2 Yusuke Horimoto
Bantam: Seijin Kobayashi vs. 1-0-0 Nobuo Kawana

Previously Announced:
Welter: Teruhiko Kobu 6-9-1 vs. 3-4-1 Keitaro Maeda

5/24 ZST 20 - RESULTS

Tuesday, 26 May 2009

ZST had their ZST 20 in Differ Ariake on Sunday. On the card was a title fight and a very some very interesting fights. On the card were UFC, DREAM and Sengoku veterans.

ZST has some interesting rules and it leads to some very high paced grappling fights, and without the judges a fighter is urged to finish the fight. This eliminates fighters that tend to stay on top and waiting for the judges decisions to go their way.

I am sure a lot of fans made their way to Differ Ariake for the tag-team fight. From what I have seen, it was a spectacular fight with lots of "air" inn the takedowns.

Main-Event: ZST Bantamweight Title fight:
Keisuke Fujiwara Def. Yuichiro "Yukito" Shirai by TKO Round 2 4:37

I have not been able to find the results for the undercard:

5/24 ZST 20 - Fights Added

Monday, 4 May 2009

ZST really has plans to put on a a big show on May 24 in Differ Ariake. They have previously announced the tag team combination of Kazuyuki Miyata and Katsuhiko Nagata.

Today they have added some very interesting additional fights. Most likely the main-event will be the bantamweight title fight between Keisuke Fujiwara and Pancrase veteran "Yukito".

It is also interesting to see Kuniyoshi Hironaka on this card. He was meant to be in the Cage Force main event a few weeks back, you can read about what happened there in the comments here.

It also seems that ADCC veteran, Takumi Yano is making a return on this card.

4/25 Cage Force 10 - Results

Saturday, 25 April 2009

Controversy at the Cage Force event in Differ Ariake today. The main event was cancelled due to Marcus Donahue (I am still not 100% sure of the name) coming in over weight. There was talk of Cage Force doing weigh-ins just before the event, I am not sure if that was the case here but Kuniyoshi Hironaka was announced the winner by disqualification.

What ended up being the main event saw DREAM veteran Motoki Miyazawa win an expected win over Hiroki Nagaoka by rear-naked choke.

Kuniyoshi Hironaka Def. Marcus Donahue by DQ (not making weight)
Motoki Miyazawa Def. Hiroki Nagaoka by rear-naked choke Round 1 3:20
Hiroshi "Iron" Nakamura Def. Wataru Miki by Decision 2-0
Yasunori Kanehara Def. Eriya Matsuda by TKO Round 2 3:00
Wataru Takahashi Def. Satoshi Nishino by TKO Round 2 1:05
Akihiro Murayama vs. Ikkei Nagamura Draw
Shuji Morikawa Def. Ken Ogawa by Decision 3-0
Ken Taisho Def. Tetsuya Nagaoka by TKO Round 1 5:00

4/25 Cage Force 10 - Fight Order

Thursday, 23 April 2009

GCM have announced the last few fights for their Cage Force 10 event in Differ Ariake April 25.

The main event will see the return of Kuniyoshi Hironaka to Cage Force, he is returning after fighting in the UFC and DREAM. It will be his first fight for GCM in over 3 years. He is taking on Team Alpha Male's Marcus Donahue (and I am not sure if I got the name right), I have not been able to find much information about him so help is appreciated.

Also on the card is one of Hironaka's DREAM opponents, Motoki Miyazawa. Miyazawa is a very talented fighter, and his only loss was to Hironaka in DREAM 5.

The fight between Shooto veteran Hiroshi Nakamura and Cage Force veteran Wataru Miki should be a very good fight.

Dont forget about the Valkyrie event earlier that same day, in the same venue.

Main-Event:
9. Light: Kuniyoshi Hironaka 12-6-0 vs. Marcus Donahue

8. Welter: Motoki Miyazawa 5-1-0 vs. 13-13-8 Hiroki Nagaoka

4/25 Cage Force 10 - Fights Announced - Kuniyoshi Hironaka Participating

Friday, 3 April 2009

On the card for this event is Motoki Miyazawa, with his only 1 loss that coming in DREAM 5 I am sure he would like to get into contention for another DREAM fight. He had 3 fights in 6 months in 2008, it was a very active year for him. Miyazawa will be taking on DEEP and Pancrase veteran Hiroki Nagaoka in his 1st fight of 2009.

Making his Cage Force debut is Shooto fighter Hiroshi "Iron" Nakamura, Nakamura had a very good 2008 and drew with Hatsu Hioki in August. Now he is taking on Cage Force veteran Wataru Miki and this should be a good fight.

Also returning to the cage is Laughter7's Wataru Takahashi. Takahashi had a very good 2008. In his 4 fights he didn't loose a single one, even picking up a win against Yukio Sakagushi and drawing with Daisuke Hanazawa. He is taking on Satoshi Nishino, who is returning to the cage after 19 months away.

Participating will be DREAM and UFC veteran Kuniyoshi Hironaka. Hironaka holds wins against fighters like Nick Diaz and Ryan Schultz. In his last fight in DREAM 6 he lost to Hayato "Mach" Sakurai. It will be very interesting to see who he will be matched up against.

Welter: Motoki Miyazawa 5-1-0 vs. 13-13-8 Hiroki Nagaoka
Feather: Hiroshi "Iron" Nakamura 6-3-4 vs. 14-8-3 Wataru Miki
Feather: Wataru Takahashi 7-10-4 vs. 5-3-2 Satoshi Nishino
