3/22 DREAM 13 - Fight Order and Weigh-in

DREAM held the weighin for their 13th event today. It should be a good one, but I wish there were a few more fights on the card.

The main event should be an awesome fight, and with "Hellboy" dropping to featherweight, it will be interesting to see how he handles the challenge of meeting the DREAM champion.

The fighters have made weight, and I can't wait for tomorrow!

3/22 DREAM 13 - Official FEG Looking for Opponent for Barnett

The rumors have been more or less confirmed, but FEG have today announced that Josh Barnett will be fighting in DREAM 13, but they have yet to find an opponent.

Also announced for the card is a featherweight fight between two WEC veterans. The Japanese will be behind Yoshiro Maeda as he takes on Cole Escovedo.

FEG have announced some very interesting fights for the upcoming event in Yokohama Arena.

Former EliteXC champion, K.J. Noons, will make his Dream debut against Andre Dida. DEEP lightweight and Cage Force lightweight champions, Katsunori Kikuno and Kuniyoshi Hironaka will face each other.

7/20 DREAM 10 - Results

The day of the DREAM welterweight GP final have arrived. Dressed in my "Mach" shirt I am very excited, but there are 3 other very good fighters in the GP.

I will be updating the results here, but no promise that they will be live. I am doing my best though.

There was some actiioni at the weigh-ins yesterday as the Japanese star "Mach" Sakurai tood 3 tires to make weight, but he did and all the fighters are in it.

7/20 DREAM 10 - Fight Added and Fight Order Announced

FEG have finalized their card for DREAM 10, there are 8 fights and they should all be good. The last fight to be added is the middleweight battle between Dong Sik Yoon and Team Quest's Jesse Taylor.

Jesse Taylor reached the TUF 7 finals, but was thrown out after kicking out the window in a limo.

FEG also announced the fight order, the main event is no surprise. The final in the welterweight GP gets the honor, and the Japanese will be cheering for "Mach" here. He didn't take long to dispose of Shinya Aoki and went into the semi-finals on a high. He will be taking on the very entertaining Marius Zaromskis.

The other semi-final sees Jason High take on grappling star Andre Galvao. Both these fighters reached the semi-final in very decisive fashion, High demolished a very tough opponent in under a minute. Andre Galvao worked his way to a arm-bar win against John Alessio.

7/20 DREAM 10 - Welterweight Reserve Fight Announced

Its only days before the event, and only now have they announced the welterweight tournament reserve fight. DEEP champion Seichi Ikemoto will take on the undefeated Tarec Saffiedine. Saffiedine fought on the War of Gods card on May 30, where he won a quick subimsson victory, but Ikemoto should be his best opponent to date. Ikemoto have fought in both Pride and DREAM, but does not hold a win in either organization. He will be looking to add one here, one that would keep him in the tournament.

DREAM have also announced plans to add one more fight to this card, making it a total of 8 fights. In my eyes its a bit thin, but every fight on this card so far is looking very good.

7/20 DREAM 10 - Fights so far

Old news, but thought I'd just clearify the fights that have been announced for the next DREAM event. This is the next major event in Japan, and will be held in Saitama SuperArena.

This event will include the Welterweight GP semi-finals and final. The tournament semis are looking very interesting, the veteran in the field is the very experienced "Mach" Sakurai who crushed Shinya Aoki to earn his spot. He will take on the very entertaining Marius Zaromskis. The other semi-final will see ground specialist Andre Galvao take on Jason High in a fight I cant wait to see.

But there are some awesome fights outside of the tournament too! It will be interesting to see what else they add to this card, but I expect 4-5 more fights.

7/20 DREAM 10 Fights - DREAM 9 Ratings and Thoughts

Summer time is a bit more quiet on the Japanese MMA scene, as usual. But DREAM has given us some things to think about.

The DREAM 9 ratings were good compared to previous events, DREAM 9 got a rating of 16.2% it topped out at 19.1% during the "Kid" Yamamoto vs. Joe Warren fight. And there is the problem, "Kid" is out of the tournament and he is the biggest DREAMs biggest draw. Expect to see him in the tournament reserve fight. Warren really showed how talented he is, he has started his MMA career in a great way.

What about the rest of the DREAM 9 event? Tokoro again put up a great fight for the crowd, but it takes 2 to tango. The metchup with Abel Cullum was great, the energy in this fight was amazing and it should be a fight of the year candidate.

On the opposite side was the Imanari vs. Fernandes was not the sort of fight the average fans will enjoy. Still a lot of skills and Imanari is a very difficult fighter to face. Fernandes did well and got the win.

It will be very interesting to see how the FEG will match these guys up, I am going to guess Warren vs. Fernandes and Tokoro vs. Takaya. It would ensure a Japanese fighter in the final.

Now it is time to look forward to the DREAM 10 event, which will take place July 20, and I was surprised at some of the fight announcements. But there are already some great fights announced and rumors of some more.

Shinya Aoki is back in the lightweight division, but I was expecting it to be a title fight. Instead he is taking on Victor Ribeiro, who is coming of a win against Katsuhiko Nagata in DREAM 8.

It is good to see Andre "Dida" back in the MMA ring, and his fight with Kikuno should be very good.

Paulo Filho is back in Japan, I am excited to see that but I hope he comes in better shape than his last fight in the WEC. If Filho comes in shape, the fight with Manhoef will be awesome!

On a side note, DREAM still doesnt have a middleweight champion, Could they add a title fight here? Maybe make some sort of tournament format? A rematch between Miller and Jacare at DREAM 11? It will be interesting to see. Lots of things happening in the DREAM organization now.

4/21 K-1 World Max Tournament - Kohiruimaki Out!

The K-1 Japan Tournament champion, Taishin Kohiruimaki is out of the upcoming World Max tournament in Fukuoka. It also means that he loses the chance to advance in this years tournament. He will be replaced by the runner up in the Japan tournament, Yuya Yamamoto. This is a real shame for the veteran, but Yamamoto was good in the tournament so lets see if he is able to step up to the challenge.

Yasuhiro Kido takes Yamamoto's spot in the reserve fight in this event.

4/21 K-1 World Max Tournament - Final 16

FEG looks like they have finalized the card for their event in Fukuoka. As always, this should be the highlight event in Fukuoka and there are some very good fighters on the card.

2 fighters from the Japan Tournament has made it into the final 16, the winner Taishin Kohiruimaki and the eccentric Yoichiro Nagashima.



The Japanese fans will keep an eye on the exhibition fight as well, I wish Masato had been in a proper fight though.

4/21 K-1 World Max Final 16 - Fights Announced

FEG have announced some fights for the K-1 World Max Final 16 event that wil take place in Fukuoka April 21.

This looks like it will be a very good event, and if you are in Fukuoka it should be a good one to go to.

It was announced today that the excentric and entertaining "Jienotsu" Nagashima will take on Albert Kraus in the tournament. Nagashima went out of the Japan Tournament after suffering a cut in his round 1 fight, a cut that opened up in his round 2 fight and forced a stoppage. He clearly made a good impression though, and now he will be back.

What to expect from him? He will enter the ring dressed like a girl...


Other fights in the Tournament will see Andre "Dida" finally getting his K-1 fight, he was due to fight in 3 days, but visa issues forced him to push it back. He will be part of the tournament here, and his opponent will be none other than 2 time champion Buakaw Por Pramuk.

Also scheduled to participate is Japanese star Masato and Russian Artur Kyshenko.

2/23 K-1 World Max -Japan Tournament Match-ups Announced

Yesterday FEG announced the fighters for the K-1 World Max Japan Tournament. Today they have announced the match-ups that will be the first round in this 1-Day tournament. In addition to that, the reserve fight was also announced.

The big fight in the 1st. round is the match-up between Kohirumaki and Ologun. But this tournament is full of talent. I have a feeling Yasuhiro Kido will take home the title this year as well. Last year he won the Japan Tournament and made it all the way to the final 8, where he lost to Artur Kyshenko.

"Dida" seems to have been taken off the list of participants, he was announced last year and I dont know if it is just a misuderstanding. I will take him off to have the list consistant with what is reported in the Japanese media. I hope he fights though!

2/23 K-1 World Max -Japan Tournament

FEG have added some fighters to this event which will be held in Yoyogi 1st Gymnasium.

This should be a good tournament again. Hinata is a very talented fighter making his K-1 debut. The 22 year old went 4-0 in RISE last year, beating HAYATO in the process.

For me, the favorite would be Yasuhiro Kido or Andy Ologun, but it will be a close tournament and anything can happen.

Announced as fighting outside the tournament is Andre Dida. It will be interesting to see how he does. MMA fighters have done very well against K-1 fighters lately, and though Dida might be considered more an K-1 fighter than Kawajiri, it will be interesting to see here. Kozo Takeda will of course be looking to redeem himself, regardless of opponent.

FEG have announced some participants for February's World Max tournament event, and there is a surprise in there. I was not expecting Andre Dida to come back here and not in DREAM. Dida can do both, I just prefer to see him fighting with MMA rules. But I guess the money is better in K-1 and FEG likes fighters to do both.

It is a solid card and other than Dida, no big surprises.

The card is packed and there are some interesting fights even outside the tournament. Andre Dida is fighting a K-1 rules fight against Remigijus Morkevicius in a fight I cant wait to see. Also the tournament reserve between Albert Krause and Mike Zambidis looks very interesting.

FEG has announced a number of Superfights for the Final 8 event to be held in Nippon Budokan on July 7.

One of the fighters that will be interesting to see is Dida, the fact that he is fighting in a K-1 event shows the advantage FEG has. They are able to use fighters in both their organizations, it will be interesting to see how long it takes before Mark Hunt is fighting in DREAM now...
