4/11 ShootBoxing - Fights Announced/TV Deal Announced

ShootBoxing have announced TV Deals with Sun-TV and Chiba-TV. Sun-TV will show the Young Ceasar event from earlier this year on March 6, Chiba TV will air the same event on March 14 at 25:35 (dont know why Japanese write times like that)....

ShootBoxing have also added a couple of fights to their event on April 11. Both feature Japanese ShootBoxing champions against Thai imports.

Super featherweight champion Tomohiro Oikawa will take on Prajonsao Por. Pramuk. And Superwelterweight champion Takaaki Umeno will take on the very strong Bovy Sor Udumson.

2/13 ShootBoxing - Fights Announced

The first ShootBoxing event of 2010 is looking close to final. It has been announced that female S-Cup champion Rena will take on the 16 year old talent from Jabout in Australia. Jurjevic competed in the World Muay Thai Championships in 2009. It should be a good fight between 2 talented fighters.

Also announced, though NOT official is the matchup between ShootBoxing champion Tamaaki Umeno and Jabout's Dean Xuereb.

This is looking like a very strong event, and I am sure Korakuen Hall will be packed for this.

2/13 ShootBoxing - Participants Announced

ShootBoxing have announced the first participants for their event in Korakuen Hall on February 13.

There are some very popular fighters announced, among them ShootBoxing champions Hiroaki Shishido and Takaaki Umeno.

Also announced is the female S-Cup champion from last year, Rena. Female pro-wrestler Fuuka Kakimoto is also announced as a participant and she will be pulling some of her fans up from Akihabara to Korakuen hall. This will be her second ShootBoxing fight, having won her first by decision at the 2008 S-Cup tournament.

9/4 Shoot Boxing - RESULTS

ShootBoxing continues to do well in filling Korakuen Hall. As usual, it turned out to be an acion packed event.

The main event went into the 5th round before the visitor from Thailand landed a devastating straight right that sent the Japanese ShootBoxing champion to the ground.

There were 2 title fights on the card, in the super-featherweight title fight, Tomohiro Oikawa won a 5 round decision over Hiroaki Suzuki.

The other title fight ended when the doctor had to stop Enari from continuing after suffering a cut. Phantom Shinya goes home the bantamweight champion.

9/4 ShootBoxing - Fight Order

ShootBoxing have announced the fight order for their event tomorrow in Korakuen Hall. And there are some changes to the card.

Tyler Toner is off this card, I dont know the reson, but he is replaced by German champion kickboxer, Florian Schöpp. It is a new opponent for Umeno but it should still be a very good co-main event.

The female S-Cup winner, Rena, will also be attending to meet the fans and sign autographs.

Should be a good start to the weekend, and it looks like there are still tickets available.

9/3 Shoot Boxing - Fights Announced

In just over a week Shoot Boxing is puttin on another event in Korakuen Hall. Added today was Shooto legend Mamoru, who have turned to ShootBoxing lately. He is doing well and has a 2-1 record so far. This time he is fighting the #3 ranked (I dont know if they publish rankings..) super bantamweight, Masahiro Fujimoto.

American MMA fans will also recognize the Ring of Fire champion, Tyler Toner, who is coming back for his 2nd ShootBoxing fight. Toner won his debut fight (the main-event no less) by a 1st round KO in June. I am sure a lot of people will be excited to see him back in Japan.

It should be another very good card, and being on a Friday this will be just about sold out.

9/4 ShootBoxing - Tyler Toner Returns

Ring of Fire champion, Tyler Toner pulled off an upset when he, in the main-event of the last Shoot Boxing event, KOed Kenichi Ogata. This time he will take on super welterweight champion, Takaaki Umeno and it will be interesting to see if he can do it again.

Also on the card (and possibly the main-event) is the fight between Hiroki Shishido and Thai champion Bowiei So Udomson (and I am not sure of the spelling).

6/1 ShootBoxing Champions Carnival - RESULTS *UPDATED*

ShootBoxing is having their Champions Carnival in Korakuen Hall now. It is a very interesting card, and lots of good fighters on it.

Mamoru has had his 3rd ShootBoxing fight, and the Shooto ledgend has now put himself in title contention by defeating the #1 ranked Nagurachun M16.

6/1 ShootBoxing Champions Carnival - Fight Order

ShootBoxing have announced the fight order for their Champions Carnival. This event will take place on MONDAY!!! (Corrected) in Korakuen Hall June 1.

It is a very interesting card, and there continues to be MMA stars on these ShootBoxing cards. One of the new fighters coming to ShootBoxing is the American Tyler Toner, he is the ROF lightweight champion and is coming straight in to fight in the main-event. He is taking on the very experienced Kenichi Ogata.

In addition to the main event there are no less than 3 (!) title fights on the card! This will be an awesome event and of course that means a special t-shirt. The shirt will be 3,500yen in the arena.

6/1 ShootBoxing Champions Carnival - Ring of Fire Champion Competing

The Ring of Fire lightweight champion, Tyler Toner, is just the latest in of a growing list of MMA fighters to try ShootBoxing.

On this card we also have Mamoru Yamaguchi, who will have his 3rd Shootboxing fight. Other MMA fighters who have tried ShootBoxing include Rumina Sato, MIKU, Antonio Carvalho and Luiz Azeredo, to name a few off the top of my head.

Tylor Toner will face the very experienced Kenichi Ogata in his debut. Ogata has a record of 44-14 in ShootBoxing and it will not be an easy opponent.

I am sure Korakuen Hall will be packed for this event, they usually are for the ShootBoxing events.

6/1 ShootBoxing Champions Carnival - Another Title Fight Added

You cant just call an event "Champions Carnival", if you do you need to add some fights that makes it what the title promises. That is exactly what ShootBoxing is doing. Today they have announced the addition of a 3rd title fight. I think it is a new title as well (I have only seen Japanese champtions in the past).

The fight will be for the ShootBoxing Western Pacific title. The fighters battling it out will be the Japanese ShootBoxing veteran Hiroki Shishido and Australian Luke Meitland(?). Shishido came 3rd in last year's S-Cup tournament, and it should be a very good fight.

I am not sure about the name of the Australian fighter, but he is from "Jabout" and is a WKBA champion.

6/1 ShootBoxing - Champion Carnival - Karate Champion Fighting

Kengo Shimizu, Karate champion, has been added to this card. He will be taking on ShootBoxing veteran Koji Iga. It is a very good addition to this card which is looking promising.

Also, I said earlier that Hiroki Shishido and Kenishi Ogata would be fighting eachother, that was wrong. They are both participants in this this event, their opponents are yet to be named.

The event is 3 weeks away, and there are still lots of fights to be added to this card.

6/1 ShootBoxing - Champion Carnival

ShootBoxing have announced the first coupld of fights for their Champion Carnival. The event will be in Korakuen Hall on June 1, and the card already has 2 title fights!

The title fights will be for the Japanese Super Featherweight and Super Welterweight divisions. The Super Featherweight champion, Tomohiro Oikawa, has a total record og 25 (13 KO)-10, but he lost his last fight in December. This time he will be defending against Hiroaki Suzuki, who has already put tigether 2 wins in 2009 and he has a 5-1 record in ShootBoxing.

The Super Welterweight title fight will see the champion and ShootBoxing star, Kenji Kanai take on Takaaki Umeno. Kanai has a shootBoxing record of 14-7, and he is coming off 3 straight losses. Takaaki Umeno is normally fighting at middleweight (72kg), but its only 2 kg down to super welterweight. Umeno has a perfect 8-0 ShootBoxing record and it should be a very interesting fight.

There is also a non-title fight announced, but it is 2 big profiles in ShootBoxing. The 2006 S-Cup Champion, Kenichi Ogata is taking on the very experienced Hiroki Shishido.

4/3 ShootBoxing - RESULTS *Azeredo in a close fight*

There are a couple of things that are guarateed when ShootBoxing puts on an event in Korakuen Hall. One is that it will be just about a full house, it will also be a very good value ticket. And lately their events have featured some high profile MMA stars trying out this sport. For those who dont know what ShootBoxing is, it is something like Strike Box. It is K-1 rules, with standing submissions and takedowns. No ground fighting though. If you want to have a closer look at the rules, here is a link: www.shootboxing.org.

Yesterday the MMA stars were represented by Shooto star Mamoru "The Fro" Yamaguchi, Pride veteran Luiz Azeredo and HEROs veteran Bernard Ackah.

Azeredo fought in the main-event taking on ShootBoxing star Hiroki Shishido, and it was a very close fight. All the judges scored it 30-30 after 3 rounds, but in the first extention round Shishido got the decision 3-0 (10-9 from all judges).

ShootBoxing has been attracting some interesting fighters lately, and this event is no different.

Today the fight order was announced, and Luiz Azeredo gets to fight in the main event in his 2nd ShootBoxing event. His is taking on the #3 ranked Hiroki Shishido in what should be a very interesting main event. Last time Azeredo fought in ShootBoxing, he won his 1st round fight in the S-Cup by submission and made a very good impression.
