4/25 Valkyrie 02 - Fight Order

Wednesday, 22 April 2009

GCM have announced the fight order for the all female part of the afternoon on April 25 in Differ Ariake. That also means that there is unlikely to be additions to this card, and with only 5 fights on it I was hoping for a couple more.

But there are some good fights on, so if you are going to the Cage Force event later that same day, why not go to this one too? Roxanne Modafferi was presented as a participant early on, but she is not on the card.

On the card are some very good and experienced fighters. Some of the bigger names are: Yuka Tsuji, Emi Fujino, "Windy" Tomomi, Takayo Hashi and "Sachi".

The main event is the first Valkyrie title fight between former SmackGirl champion Yuka Tsuji and Kate Martinez. The co-main event will see another SmackGirl veteran, Takayo Hashi, take on new-comer Chisa Yonezawa.

Main-Event: Featherweight Title Fight:
6. Yuka Tsuji 21-1-0 vs. 1-0-0 Kate Martinez

5. Welter: Takayo Hashi 11-1-0 vs. 0-1-0 Chisa Yonezawa

Featherweight Tournament to Determine the next Challenger:
4. "Windy" Tomomi Sunaba 12-9-0 vs. 8-3-0 Kyoko Takabayashi
3. Megumi "V Hajime" Yamaguchi 3-2-0 vs. 8-2-0 Emi Fujino

2. 46.8kg: Naoko Omuro 8-7-3 vs. 5-3-1 Sachiko "SACHI" Yamamoto

4/25 Valkyrie 02 - Fights Added

Monday, 6 April 2009

The second event in the all female Valkyrie organization is planned for April 25 in Differ Ariake. This is before the Cage Force event, you will need to buy tickets for both, but it is a very good chance to have a day packed with MMA action.

The Valkyrie should be a very interesting one. They will determine a Featherweight champion, and there is a tournament to determine the next challenger. The question is if they can get some momentum going, currently Jewels is the leading female organization.

Added today are 2 welterweight (61.2kg) fights, and the addition of Takayo Hashi is an interesting one.

Personally, I want to see Rin Nakai on this card, she would have been awesome in the tournament.

Added:
Welter: Takayo Hashi 11-1-0 vs. 0-1-0 Chisa Yonezawa
Welter: Mizuho Sato 3-2-0 vs. Masae Mori

Previously Announced:
Featherweight Title Fight:
Yuka Tsuji 21-1-0 vs. 1-0-0 Kate Martinez

Featherweight Tournament to Determine the next Challenger:
Megumi "V Hajime" Yamaguchi 3-2-0 vs. 8-2-0 Emi Fujino
"Windy" Tomomi Sunaba 12-9-0 vs. 8-3-0 Kyoko Takabayashi

46.8kg: Naoko Omuro 8-7-3 vs. 5-3-1 Sachiko "SACHI" Yamamoto

4/25 Valkyrie 02 - SACHI Fighting

Friday, 3 April 2009

GCM is putting on a double header in Differ Ariake on April 25. The evening kicks off with Valkyrie, the all female production, at 14:00. This event is looking very good, and I think the fights are looking competitive too.

Naoko Omuro will take on "Sachi", who would be very familar to the fans of Japanese female MMA. "Sachi" has lost twice to DEEP female champion Satoko Shinashi, she looks good and she is good. She should be a very good addition to the Valkyrie card, and it looks like it should be a good fight as well.

The fight that sticks out as a main-event is Yuka Tsuji taking on Kate Martinez though. I know very little about Kate Martinez, but from what I can see she is a very good kickboxer that won her first MMA fight by arm-bar. Have a feeling she will have her hands full with Yuka Tsuji though.

Two fighters looking to get back on the winning track, "V Hajime" will take on Emi Fujino. Both fighters have lost their last 2 fights, and "V Hajime" will be looking to revenge her loss from December 2007.

Naoko Omuro 8-7-3 vs. 5-3-1 Sachiko "SACHI" Yamamoto
Yuka Tsuji 21-1-0 vs. 1-0-0 Kate Martinez
Megumi "V Hajime" Yamaguchi 3-2-0 vs. 8-2-0 Emi Fujino
"Windy" Tomomi Sunaba 12-9-0 vs. 8-3-0 Kyoko Takabayashi

Possible participant:
Roxanne Modafferi 13-4-0

11/8 Cage Force - EX Eastern Bound - RESULTS

Saturday, 8 November 2008

The Eastern Bound event is going on right now in Differ Ariake, there are some big stars on the card and there could be some big upsets.

I would not expect "K-Taro", Monma, Osawa and Urushitani to lose today, but it has been a week with a few upsets so you should never feel safe.

So far, Miyazaki has claimed his first win against the previously undefeated Hoshino.
The BIG upset of the night though, "K-Taro" gets KOed by Kim just 59 seconds into the fight.

I will update results as they are available to me.

8. Main event: Jang Yong Kim Def. Keita Nakamura "K-Taro" by KO Round 1 0:59
7. Hidetaka Monma Def. Andre Mafetoni (??) by Guillotine choke Round 1 4:47

5. Yasuhiro Urushitani Def. Kiyotaka Shimizu by TKO (doctor stop) Round 1
4. Yukiya Naito Def. Alex Silva by KO Round 1 4:42
3. Takenori Sato Def. Rikuhei Fuji by Decision 3-0

11/8 Cage Force Valkyrie 01 EX - RESULTS

GCM had their first Valkyrie, all female MMA event today. There were 6 fights on the card. A good mix of experienced and new talent. Hopefully they can build of this event and it will be interesting to see going forward.

Of the fights on the card, I think there were couple that got more attention than the others. Roxanne Modaferri was meant to fight in AFL facing Tara Larosa today, instead she was fighting Chisa Yonezawa here in Japan. I hope she is able to get more fights in Japan, and it looks like there should be options going forward with Valkyrie and JEWELS both fighting over the female talent.

SmackGirl champion, Yuka Tsuji was fighting in the SmackGirl Cinderella tournament winner, V Hajime.

Of the fights on the card today, only one didnt go the distance.

For personal reasons, I was not able to get to this event, but I will try to get to the next one.

Yuka Tsuji Def. V Hajime by Decision 3-0
Naoko Omuro vs. Yasuko Tamada DRAW
"Windy" Tomomi Sunabe Def. Emi Fujino by Decision 3-0
Roxanne Modafferi Def. Chisa Yonezawa (?) by Decision 3-0
Madoka Ebihara Def. Akiko Naito by armbar Round 1 2:45
Mamiko Mizoguchi vs. Sakura DRAW

Friday, 24 October 2008

Valkyrie have announced an additional 2 fights to their first event being held in Differ Arike November 8. I know lots of people (me included) will be happy to see that Roxanne Modafferi is getting a fight after the AFL cancelation.<

Thursday, 24 July 2008

GCM changed their July 21 event from an Eastern Bound event to a Demolition event. No doubt due to the financial problems they are having. Still, with 9 fights on the card, it should have been an entertaining event and the ticket prices were resonable as well.

The results:
