8/30 Shooto Gig Central Vol. 18 - Results

Alive held the 18h Gig central last yesterday, the main event ended in a draw when Taisuke Okuno and Takesuke Kume won one round each.

The fight between Hiroshi Sakamoto and Paraestra Matsudo's Hayato Sato was cancelled as Sakamoto came in overweight. That left 3 fights on the main card, in addition 2 amature fights (that delivered some action) and a gappling fight between last year's rookie champion, Kosuke Eda and Akira Kibe.

8/30 DEEP Osaka Impact - RESULTS

DEEP Osaka Impact was earlier today, the main event saw the very experienced DREAM, WEC and Pride veteran, Yoshiro Maeda take on the very talented Kleber Koike. The fight ended early when Maeda caught a kick to the family jewels and was unable to continue. Koike was disqualified.

Korean "RYO" has now gone 4 straight fights without a loss and should be happy with the way 2009 has gone so far. A deceisive win for the fighter that normally goes the distance.

"Goodman" Tanaka was had just a second left of the round when he got caught in an arm-bar.

9/23 Sengoku 10 - Izumi's Opponent Announced

WVR have announced the opponent for Hiroshi Izumi's MMA debut, the Judoka will take on the New Zealand kickboxing and Muay Thai champion Antz "Notorious" Nansen. As far as I know both these fighters are making their MMA debuts, but it should be an interesting mix of styles.

The other fights announced today are Makoto Takimoto aginst Korean Sprit MC veteran, Jae Sun Lee. And Antonio Silva will take on "Big Jim York.

9/3 Shoot Boxing - Fights Announced

In just over a week Shoot Boxing is puttin on another event in Korakuen Hall. Added today was Shooto legend Mamoru, who have turned to ShootBoxing lately. He is doing well and has a 2-1 record so far. This time he is fighting the #3 ranked (I dont know if they publish rankings..) super bantamweight, Masahiro Fujimoto.

American MMA fans will also recognize the Ring of Fire champion, Tyler Toner, who is coming back for his 2nd ShootBoxing fight. Toner won his debut fight (the main-event no less) by a 1st round KO in June. I am sure a lot of people will be excited to see him back in Japan.

It should be another very good card, and being on a Friday this will be just about sold out.

Jewels have announced a couple of fights for their next event. Former SmackGirl champion Megumi Yabushita will be taking on pro-wrestler Atsuko Emoto. Another pro-wrestler, Hikaru Shida will be fighting in a grappling rule fight. He opponent is yet to be announced.

The main event will see the very experienced, Pride, WEC and Dream veteran, Yoshiro Maeda taking on Kleber Koike. Koike is a very good BJJ fighter, in only his 3rd pro fight he will be taking on Maeda. Koike has everything to gain here, and it should be a good fight.

Also on this card is Korean "Ryo", he defeated Bernard Ackah by decision in his last fight and will be looking to build in that here.
